Trucking along the wide open road... from 50's to now
From the early 1930s through to the 60s truckers were given heavily branded peaked caps by the haulage companies and later by other brands as a way of promoting their businesses. Also known as mesh or net back caps, they gained notoriety through into the 70s as global brands such as mountain few and agricultural feed companies used them as give aways at truck stops which is why theyre also known as gimme caps - ie. give me due to them being handed out for free. Fast forward over the 50s and the trucker cap is the staple in ant denim heads wardrobe, still carrying the heavy branding, the net back and curved peak.
